FAQs

What is the book, exactly?

Your Cycle, Made Simple is a printed paperback, under 200 pages, about how the monthly cycle changes mood, sleep, energy, appetite and the body. It is set out as a countdown to the next period: 10, 7, 5, 3 and 1 days before. Each feeling gets the same short card: what many women feel, why it happens in plain words, what helps, and when it is worth seeing a doctor. Every claim carries a label that says how strong the evidence is, from solid to myth.

Who is it for?

Women who notice they feel like themselves for part of the month and like someone else for the rest, and who want a plain explanation instead of a sales pitch. It was written with women in their late 30s and 40s in mind. Most of it applies at any age with a monthly cycle, and one part covers what changes from the late 30s on.

Is it still useful after 40?

Yes, and a whole part of the book is written for exactly that. Perimenopause can start while periods are still regular, and most women are never told. That part covers what tends to change first, how the countdown changes when cycles get shorter or less regular, and what to bring to an appointment if a doctor says it is too early. If periods have stopped altogether, this is not the right book, and we would rather say so now.

Is this medical advice?

No. The book is general information about the menstrual cycle and the hormones behind it, written in plain language so it is easier to understand what is going on and to talk to a doctor about it. It does not diagnose anything. Every feeling card ends with a "when it's more than normal" box, and there are clear see-a-doctor boxes throughout. If something feels wrong, please see a doctor. The full wording is on our Medical disclaimer page.

Does it cover the pill and the hormonal IUD?

Yes, in a short, neutral chapter: what can change on the pill, on a hormonal IUD and when coming off them, and what to ask a doctor. It is not for or against any method. One thing it is clear about: tracking a cycle, on paper or in an app, is not birth control unless it is a cleared method used exactly as directed, and this book is not a guide to one.

Can a partner read it?

Yes. One chapter is written for the person she lives with: what can change across the month, what helps at each stop of the countdown, what not to say, and how to raise the pattern without it sounding like an accusation. It ends with a page to tear out and keep. No jokes at anyone's expense, and no talk of women as a problem to be managed.

Can I buy it as a gift?

Yes. The 2-copy option on the book page is there for a sister, a friend or the person you live with, and the 3-copy option for a small group of friends. At checkout you can send the order to their address instead of yours.

Do I have to track my cycle or share any health information?

No. We never ask for your cycle dates, your symptoms or anything about your health, at checkout or by email. The tracker pages are paper, inside the book. No app, no account, and nothing about your month ever leaves the page.

How do I order, and how can I pay?

Choose 1, 2 or 3 copies on the book page, add them to your cart and check out. Every payment option available in your country is shown at checkout. Checkout runs on Shopify's encrypted payment system, so we never see or store your card number. Your order confirmation arrives by email, usually within a few minutes. If it does not, check your spam folder, then email us before placing a second order.

How long does shipping take?

Every order ships with tracking. The delivery estimate and any shipping cost for your address are shown at checkout, before you pay. Your tracking number is emailed to you as soon as the order ships. More detail is on our Shipping Policy page.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Yes, as long as it has not shipped. Email info@dovalee.com with your order number as soon as you can and we will change the address or cancel it. Once it has shipped, the 30-day refund below still applies.

What if it is not for me?

You have 30 days from delivery to decide. If the book is not for you, email info@dovalee.com with your order number and we refund you in full. You do not have to give a reason. A book is hard to judge from a web page, so read it first and then decide. The details are on our Refund Policy page.

How do I reach you?

Email info@dovalee.com. A person reads every message and answers it. We cannot give personal medical advice by email, so please do not send us details about your health. If something feels wrong, a doctor is the right person to ask.
